[SO THAT SURE WAS AN EXECUTION, HUH

Shirou's just been kind of staring off into space, still holding on to Usagi's hand, ever since Kon and Natsume's deaths. Just when it starts to look like he might stay like that all hecking night, he suddenly blinks and looks around.]

I'm going to go get some food.

[And indeed, he disappears off to the lodge and returns a little later with a huge pile of beautifully made sandwiches and other snacks. Did he have them prepared, or did he just make them really fast somehow? Who knows.

Anyway, there are now sandwiches. And the shack might still be on fire. This is fine.]

[ Boa disappears pretty soon after the whole business with the fire and Ichigo dies down and he doesn't come back until later in the evening.

He sits down at the fire, grabbing one of the last remaining sandwiches and just listens to the conversation around him. He doesn't seem overtly distraught, just kind of serious. ]

After some time

[ He's not moving bodies this time. Nine vanishes after the group hug, and then comes back with bleeding and bruised knuckles. He couldn't keep his promise to Natsume. They didn't save Kon. They couldn't even save Natsume.

Hitting a tree didn't help take the edge off, but Nine is now physically exhausted after everything. He's not going to touch food this time, but he will be found by the fire. He's still missing a shirt and his blazer, but he has on his hat and pants still. Approach? ]

[He goes off to punch trees and Talcott is left sitting by the campfire a little bewildered. Ren is upset, Ichigo's upset. Everyone's talking about time out like it's some great tragedy. It made sense last week that Nine was upset because they usually sat together before bed. He was lonely.

But this seems like an awful lot of fuss. So he follows Nine, upset because his boyfriend is upset. He just comes up behind him, wraps his arms around his middle, leans his cheek against the back of his shoulder.]

It's okay, darlin~

[ He freezes it at the contact, but then he hears that melodious lilt to darling, and knows who it is. He swallows down what he wants to say, and then folds his arm over Talcott's. ]

I don't know if it will be, baby.

[ His voice is thick as he leans back against him. ]

[ Usagi is not okay. She's really not. She's not. And she's going to sit there, hands in lap. She still hasn't detransformed. Her expression is kind of vacant and hollow. She's... Not doing okay. ]

[ Boa watches Nine from a distance for a while, then hesitantly moves over. ]

You alright?

[. . . honestly, even after all of that. . . she is hungry]

[she reaches out to take a sandwich slice]

[ Nine looks at Boa and considers shaking his head. Raises his hand and then just... drops it. ]

[Ichigo doesn't come back to the firepit, once he manages to extract himself from the hug pile. In fact, he takes off out of the camp as soon as he can.

Someone bring him a sandwich.]

[ Boa sits down closely next to him. Hugging more than necessary isn't his style, but he's learned by now that physical proximity comforts people. ]

Were you close to them?

[Sorry, Usagi. He would help, but. He's kind of running on autopilot right now, so the best he can do is leave her a plate with a sandwich.]

[ You know what? Marisa actually feels kind of useless right now, and Usagi's kind of...catatonic. So. Let's give this a shot. ]

[ Marisa will sit down opposite her. ]

[ She's. Upset. And it's not hard to get her attention. Thankfully, really. But she's very obviously very far from the realm of okayness. ]

[Well Lance never actually goes back to the fire pit, but he is at the beach. He has his bayard with him, but this time it's taken on the shape of a sword. He's still too angry with himself to engage in any kind of meaningful self reflection, which means it's time to channel his energy elsewhere.

Sword in hand, he practices several strikes and blows, swinging the sword as hard as he can with his movements. Despite all the flailing he does usually, he's not at all clumsy when he's focused on fighting. If anyone approaches, he'll pause for a moment, long enough to nod.]

[He just. Kind of nods vacantly. And moves on to shove sandwiches at other people.

[This is much later at night.

But surprisingly, perhaps, Lenka turns up. He’s just sitting by his God Arc and staring into the campfire, expressionlessly eating a piece of the cake that Lillith offered during the trial. He doesn’t seem to have noticed the rest of the food, which is just as well since his knuckles and hands are a bloody and blue and black wreck and also there are splinters everywhere. There’s probably some blood going in that cake, so the attempt at normal baked goods is going a little wasted here.

Feel free to engage or yell at him or whatever, he’s here for all post-trial needs.

Oh, and happy zombirthday to their new coral pals. Are they still following Ren like ducklings?]

[Really, there's no reason to take this so hard, Nine. He squeezes a little, hooks his chin over Nine's shoulder.]

I know Natsume's a little... hmmm.... delicate? But one night in time out won't kill him. Maybe it'll toughen him up a bit. [A soft chuckle, a little teasing.]

[ He flinches like someone has just slapped him. Gripping on his arm as he curses a bit. ]

He- it's not that, Talcott.

[ Nine feels the anger and failure trying to claw it's way out. Reaching up with his free hand to just tug down on the hat. ]

I thought we could save Kon. I thought I could do that at least, that we could have saved someone...

[ His voice cracks there. Saving people? Defending people? That was never one of his priorities. And nothing makes sense. Nothing he does makes it better... ]

It should be fine until morning, you look like you need a nap. Just remember to cover it. The ants will eat if before you can if you don't.
