TRIAL

It takes a full day after finding the body, but on Saturday, the counselors call you all to the campfire, the bonfire already roaring away as everyone finds their seats. Stan and Red are seated there, with Stan holding a box saying 'VOTES' written on it.

It looks like you're here to find the killer.

And just like before, you know you'll be forced to vote before the night's over...

And condemn someone to a grisly fate.

[Because he went through the same thing - the same goddamn thing with Kon when Clarke died - and he knows that Nine will blame himself for this.

He'd been prepared to die for Kon. Nine was prepared to die for them.

But his own answer, out of that pain - was to keep going. To save them - all of them - and never give up, no matter how bad it was, no matter if he had to drag them all out of this hell with his bare hands.]

And we'll save them. All of them.

But....not right now.

Please, Nine. Just hold out for a little longer.

He knows how he felt on the other side of this. How he was worried about Ichigo going and knew how Kon felt if Ichigo took the blame...

[He reaches out a hand to Nine, to pull him back up to his feet.]

Usagi, Boa...everyone. We won't leave any of them behind, I swear.

I'm a Shinigami, remember? I won't let the dead just stay here, alone.

[ He hesitates before taking his hand to get back up. ]

Yeah... yeah, we will.

[ Keeping that hand a little longer to give it a squeeze before trying to regain his space. ]

We'll figure it out together. [ He needs to now... and he needs to make sure the others get the hell out of here.

After he falls apart later... if he doesn't die. ]
