WEEK 1 - INVESTIGATION

INVESTIGATION

When you wake in the morning, you'll find that your illness has mysteriously vanished - of course, that might not be a surprise to you, considering that it vanished around 10pm last night.

And that can only mean one thing - that one of your fellow campers have committed murder.

Someone is dead. It's up to you to find out who...and to gather evidence for it.

BASE EVIDENCE: 9 PIECES
CAMPERS REMAINING: ???

((We ask that there only be 2-3 characters in a thread, please! At least for body finding/gathering evidence, though you're welcome to have characters react to it.

Please remember that The counslors will not be compiling evidence for you! Your characters will either have to physically hold onto evidence, take notes/sketch the scene, or remember details! Evidence will be compiled in headers during the trial.

We have two types of evidence: Base Evidence, which is the absolute minimum you'll need to solve the case - and Extra Evidence, which will help you figure things out easier if you find it. We will always tell you how many pieces there are of base evidence and when you've found all of it through AREA CLEAR comments, but we will not tell you how many pieces of extra evidence remain until you've found them all.))

[He's looking faintly embarrassed, though whether that's due to the unexpected additional contact or the reminder that he'd been a little too friendly with plants earlier in the week is anyone's guess. He doesn't pull away for the moment, though, just bites his lip a little.]

I'm... glad too.

[It's a sweeping statement, because in a sense they're both lucky to be here now.

He would have protested the idea that he could have taste-tested anything poisonous that first day, because he'd been relatively careful, but thinking back... this is a different enough country and continent and world that he probably should have been even more cautious than he was. They're all learning lessons here.

He'd never really thought that having all the forests and foliage back would come with this sort of danger. Go figure. He gives a quiet sigh about it.]

So... is that why you were apologizing? [it still seems strange to him] I think... it's hard to know about that kind of thing. Especially if your world is the way it is.

I should've been more careful. There's people relying on me I can't just-

[Be so reckless, so stupid. If... If Lenka will let him he might scoot over to lean on him more. Just a little reassurance.]

I don't feel well and I didn't think through what I was doing. It was a stupid mistake and it could've gotten me killed.

[He nearly died and his main concern is the people he would have disappointed in doing so.]

[He'll gently take his hand back now but also let Talcott lean on him -- Lenka is no good at initiating contact or closeness but he'll allow it from other people, especially in circumstances like these. And he won't even be too stiff about it, just lean back a little bit to help.

He'll be quiet for a little while, choosing his words.]

You know now, right? It's something we both should have been more careful about.

[And now that I can do retroactive foreshadowing, he really doesn't have room to tell others about being reckless or responsible, when there are others relying on them. He keeps that to himself, though. The thing about death is -- it's both all about yourself and all about other people, at the same time, for people like them.

When there are too many things that are more important than just you, your perspective tends to get a little skewed.]

I didn't expect someone to use poison. [it's more contemplative, now] I'm more used to working with people who fight directly.

[It's not a criticism of the method used to take the Pastor down; rather, it's his way of saying that the investigation itself is something new. There are stumbling blocks that he and probably Talcott still don't even have the means to imagine.]
