[ The campfire is still roaring. S'mores supplies are hanging around the area. There's still a faint scent of copper on the air, for those who can really recognize it.

Leon is leaning against Mami on one of the logs around the fire. He's been acting like he's uncaring-- and a lot of it stems from bitterness that this happened to him and he had to watch it AGAIN. But he's calmed down now. He actually looks rather peaceful, if a bit weathered.

There's also now a pizza sitting on another nearby seat. It's cheese and a little cold. ]

Spell didn't work. Delivery man practically blinked out of existence. I thought I'd try since... look at all of us now.

[ That's all he murmurs. Join the campfire? ]

[ He plops down next to him. He's reminded again of how other cadets took failing on the battlefield. Maybe it really is better off not remembering the dead if everyone is going to beat themselves up like this. ]

Did you see how it bounced everyone else-

[ Whoa. Wait. ]

Hey, what do you mean by seeing her soul?

[ He knows you can harvest souls where he's from in the form of phantoma, but that's supposed to be top secret stuff. ]

[He sighs, shaking his head.]

Not the 'grim reaper' kind, though. More like...the kind that makes sure souls go where they need to go. And because of that, I can normally see the souls of people once they've died. If they were working properly, I would see her here, at least.

The noises...that was definitely the sound of bone breaking. And the gurgles...

[He shakes his head, looking down.]

[ He knows those sounds, but it still feels fake to him. They can only wait to see what is the truth either way, and thinking too hard on it isn't really him... ]

[ Nine finds himself touching over the scar on his face after he says that. ]

But I remember that Soma guy, the Pastor, and her.

[He finds himself stopping in mid sentence, because -

That thought is written all over his face as he tilts his head down, shaking it softly.]

[ Clarke reacted in the same way. Nine just shakes his head. ]

I'm used to it, yo. It's so we can carry on without being weighed down by their deaths.
