As you wake up, you'll realize that your powers have returned to you. For some, this is a joyous occasion...but even with them returned, it's only a grim reminder of the reality of the situation -

- that one of your fellow campers have committed murder.

Someone is dead. It's up to you to find out who...and to gather evidence for it.

[Pretty dang close without getting burned or anything if there's still fire or embers, how else is he to investigate?]

[Close enough to be able to look into it, I suppose.]

[Oh. Well.

Then he's going to first notice the smell of burnt flesh, along with a body face down in the firepit itself, looking distinctly burnt.]

[I knew it was on fucking fire.

Mitsuru wrinkles his nose in disgust and carefully uses telekinesis to pull it out. Can we even recognize it...?]

[Telekinesis really is the most useful power when it comes to body investigations, huh.

Lenka has to hold his breath this close because. Keen sense of smell. Dead bits are usually a little overpowering, so that's great. He's going to crouch next to it to get a closer look, after also doublechecking the fire pit to see if anything else is left behind once they move the body.]

[The body is pulled, and it's clear that the worst burns are more on the back. The front is less charred, though obvious pieces of skin have been burnt away and other patches charred.

Still, there's no mistaking who it is, even if his bleached hair is burnt in places.

Kanji Tatsumi is dead.]

...That's a shame. It seems our efforts weren't enough.

[Still, he has his powers now - thank you for your sacrifice, Kanji.

Will closer examination of the body give any clues as to the actual cause of death?]

[Lenka is frowning, thoughtful; he'll let Mitsuru have a first go-round of the body with whatever angles his telekinesis can pull.]

... If Red moved the body, like she's always done... Are the burns part of his death?

[Maybe they should try and find any other possible wounds or markings...]

[They'll be clearly able to tell that The burn marks have no stone in them. Huh!

The burns do look severe enough to be the cause of death, but...Something seems a little off. You'll have to look closer to figure that out.

As for other markings, he has bruises on what's left of the skin on his hands, along the knuckles. Was he punching something?]

Narrowing his eyes and holding his breath, Mitsuru's going to focus on looking a little closer.]

[This definitely looks like signs of a struggle, but it's still hard to piece things together yet; it seems fairly certain that the firepit isn't the scene of the crime, so maybe they're going to need to ask around, in a bit.]

... He might have been attacked from behind, if you look at the burns. But he was fighting with his fists. [the directions don't completely make sense at this point, unless this was a situation where Kanji was surrounded...] Do you see something?

[What else is off in there?]

warning this is gonna get gross because I remembered polyester melts

[There's soil under his fingernails, that's weird. As well as a pair of camp issued shoes in the ashes, though they're clearly not Kanji's, which are currently melted to his feet. However, they're too distorted and warped to tell the size, and too damaged to see if there were once bloodstains on them.

As for the body...Well, Mitsuru might notice that the melted shirt on his chest has a strange dip in it. He'll have to peel it off to look what's under it, though....]

[And here comes everyone's favorite people this week.]

Did you find some... one? [Chuuta asks, walking up. Drew's out, and obviously sniffing the air.]

[Drew smells something burnt.]

I smell it too.

[It's such a good thing that Mitsuru has seen Some Shit in his life, because while he's clearly disgusted he's still totally gonna peel that shirt off to investigate.]

It's Tatsumi.

... Chuuta.

[Lenka's head pops up when he hears the conversation, and the familiar disjointedness, and he nods.]

Drew. It's... he's burned. We're trying to find out more.

[Are they going to want to get up close and personal, because it probably sounds pretty gross over here what with Mitsuru peeling melted things off dead people. Lenka's going to turn his attention back over to fish the shoes out of the fire pit. Might as well give them a more thorough examination before dismissing them.]

[Oh god that sound is not a good sound

But as Mitsuru pulls off the shirt, it's clear what made the dip - there's a stab wound in the center of his chest, though it's impossible to tell how deep it is, due to the fire having burned it mostly closed.]

[Chuuta pauses, wide eyed for a second, and then moves closer. That's what the smell was. He knows this smell, sort of.

He's kind of pale, but it doesn't look like he's going to be sick or pass out or run away. Drew stretches in close and sniffs at the body.]

[It smells kind of like that time.]

Yeah, it does. [Once Drew's done sniffing, Chuuta crouches down next to the fire pit and pokes around in the ashes. Anything else?]

[Super gross. Mitsuru is going to raise his hand to the wound to try to get a sense for how long the entry point is, at least, in the off chance it could line up with the size of a type of blade in particular.]

[It's around the size of a broadsword, though it looks a little weird. It's hard to exactly get a size or length, due to the fire contracting the flesh in and around the wound.]

Did you think of something?

[Since Chuuta is still talking to himself, Lenka will check in with him while Mitsuru measures the entry point of the wound. Once he seems satisfied with that, he's going to give it a quick look over. This is one messy body.]

And, uh, Mitsuru. Can you turn him over again? We'll check his back.

[It's unlikely that it went all the way through him, but hey. Double-checking is the breakfast of champions.]

We've just smelled this before, that's all. Or... I've smelled it. [Drew was... incapacitated at the time. Chuuta keeps looking for clues in the firepit itself, because it looks like Mitsuru's got the body situation under control.]

[Mitsuru will obligingly flip the body over, looking for any other injuries as well!]

[No injuries on his back, beyond....all the burns. And melted clothing.]

[Drew might notice Drag marks leading to the firepit itself, looking as if they come from the direction of the way you'd walk to the grassy field.]
