INVESTIGATION

As you wake up, you'll realize that your powers have returned to you. For some, this is a joyous occasion...but even with them returned, it's only a grim reminder of the reality of the situation -

- that one of your fellow campers have committed murder.

Someone is dead. It's up to you to find out who...and to gather evidence for it.

[He also hasn't taken a look at all the blood.]

Still unnecessarily violent.

[ Boa is so annoyed with this camp. Can't we all be like Lillith and just poison people? ]

And there is a sea of blood on the field, so it's not a clean case any way you look at it.

[ Boa nods, tilting his head at the reaction. ]

Yes, why?

...We were on patrol.

[And yet they apparently missed the murder after all.]

[ Patrol, huh...? Unexpectedly community oriented of Mitsuru, but he's not going to comment on that. ]

That might help us narrow down the timeframe at least...

[As always, he has his reasons.]

I think it must have been after curfew, but... we'll need to collect everyone's alibis.

As always. I'm getting really used to this.

[ Kanji wasn't a bad guy, he liked Kanji just fine... but after weeks of this, he just feels kind of hollow. They're just going through this over and over again and to Boa, it hardly feels like it means anything anymore. ]

That's usually how it goes.

[Sure, he didn't deal with the trials, but...]

Supposedly there will be an end to it, at least.

And we live another week to get closer to it.

17 of us left... 16 after tomorrow. Stands to reason only about 8 people will figure out what happens after this is done...

[His eyes narrow.]

That minimum...

[He really doesn't like this. They're cutting it close.]

The moose did a number on... well, our numbers.

[ If they hadn't lost so many to its shenanigans it wouldn't be so dire now... ]

We can't take any extras...

[Having his power back is nice, but he did kind of hope the patrol would be at least a little more effective.]

If there ever is a motive that two people think to act on, we're going to have a real problem.

We definitely are.

[But apparently, it's insanely difficult to get a pack of kids to stop murdering the hell out of each other.]

[ They should just make a group decision to vote two people off the island each week, clearly that's going to be a great idea. ]

We have another week before that threatens to happen, I guess...

[Something seems to occur to him at that, though.]

[ He assumes something happens there to make it worth bringing up anyway. ]

[Many things, actually. Mitsuru will go for the simplest answer, though:]

[ Boa blinks in surprise at that. He expected many things, but not this. ]

So you're older than me by a bit... Which day?

The seventh. Next Saturday.

[Next trial day, at this rate.]

... couldn't be any better day of the week, huh?

[ Fuck Saturdays. Then after a pause: ]

I'll keep this in mind.

Apparently not.

[He's pretty sure it wasn't a Saturday back home, either... time is weird.]

It's nothing that important. [A lie, it is, but for a whole host of reasons Mitsuru's not going to get into.] Let's just focus on finding our culprit.

[ Boa nods, but makes mental note anyway. He has never celebrated any birthdays much and he doesn't feel like it is important, but... this seems good to remember. ]
