WEEK 8

The weekend passes in a blue, and suddenly it is Monday again. Monday of week 8, the final week of camp. The last week to try and change your fate.

It's sunny and pleasant, with daytime temperatures lingering around 70 degrees Fahrenheit and dropping off into the 50s in the evening. It's pretty much the perfect weather for Michigan, and it's only a shame that it took this long to get to it.

The WiiU continues to be broken, though the creepy Mii is gone now. All of the Miis are, actually. All that can be seen is a variety of Pure Michigan ads, interestingly enough. A bit calmer than last week's visuals, but probably annoying since no games can be played.

There is one other notable change about camp: the counselors are nowhere to be found. There is plenty of food and some note left on how to run things, but otherwise the campers have been left to their own devices apparently.

On the main door to the lodge is a note that says "We will be back as soon as possible." written in Red's handwriting. What could this mean?

[Unfortunately, almost everything related to this place is somehow connected to a shitty memory. Them's the breaks, kind of like trying to find an inch of camp that someone hasn't bled or died on. At least you can fudge it a bit.]

[ Cause that's what some people forever ago decided or something. ]

Good question... It's February.

[The blind are leading the blind here. He's just going to correct the pronunciation instead, because he can't completely help himself. How well is he going to do at pronouncing Sileomens, though? Not so well. Assuming Nine's pronunciation is even helpful in the first place.]

Sileomens is pretty long.

From the Latin februarius, which comes from februa. I think it was a purification feast they had during that month, if I'm remembering correctly.

[ Nine is going to tick off with his fingers for each month. ] Ignismens, Aquamens, Petramens, Ventusmens, Pyromens, Glacemens, Terramens, Tempestamens, Caleomens, Gelumens, Sileomens, and Caelusmens.

[ He has siblings who has birthdays in MOST of those. So he actually knows them even if they don't celebrate with a party or anything. ]

We were in Tempestamens when I was brought here. [ August. And the war started in Aquamens/Feb ]

Mine is Aqu Thirteen. [ He draws the XIII in the air ]

What do you do on a trip? I mean, I go all over with Class Zero, but that's for missions and battles.

[Nerd. Luckily Lenka is more impressed than anything, because he doesn't know shit about Latin.]

I've never heard of that. Whose feast was it?

... All of them have abbreviations, right?

[It's a touch dry. He's not going to do the obvious thing and congratulate Nine for getting all of those out in a row, because while it's an impressive feat -- and one he's not actually sure he'd manage himself -- he's busy sorting out the naming order. They'll be impossible to remember down the road, but still interesting.]

Tempestamens... the eight month. It was around that time back home, too.

[He's not sure what time is like, now. Where these two months will count, in the grand scheme of things. The summer's been kind of endless at this point.]

And maybe he's just hit all of his growth spurts already. [YOU HEAR THAT MINISURU? You've hit all your growth spurts already.]

A-and how old is Eight? Older than you, right?

[ He's grinning cause he can already tell Drew is being helpful again. ]

What is Drew saying?

[ And now you want to hear the weird thing about his family? The ages aren't linked to their names at all. ]

He's younger by about six months.

[ What lovely weather for our final week at camp! On this beautiful Tuesday, two of your happy campers are enjoying the last moments of summer by sitting on the picnic table in the clearing and soaking up the atmosphere. Like all of the departed, both Lance and Floe are missing several patches of skin by now, leaving their faces speckled with coral like the world's creepiest freckles, but that doesn't deter them at all from enjoying their conversation. Which seems to be...getting weirdly passionate? Hey, what on earth are they talking about over there, anyway...? ]

-you're nuts. He's totally adorable, super fit...not to mention that too-too-serious personality of his that just makes you want to tease him to death! Lenka's a high 9, for SURE.

He's right. I was eleven when we got here, so now I'm twelve.

Nope, nope, nope, no way. Lenka's totally a high potential work in progress. He could be a 9, one day, but right now he's maaaaybe a 7 or an 8. Talking to him is like talking to a judgey brick wall sometimes. Sure he can be super endearing, but you gotta grade now-Lenka, not future-Lenka.
