Week 8
The weekend passes in a blue, and suddenly it is Monday again. Monday of week 8, the final week of camp. The last week to try and change your fate.
It's sunny and pleasant, with daytime temperatures lingering around 70 degrees Fahrenheit and dropping off into the 50s in the evening. It's pretty much the perfect weather for Michigan, and it's only a shame that it took this long to get to it.
The WiiU continues to be broken, though the creepy Mii is gone now. All of the Miis are, actually. All that can be seen is a variety of Pure Michigan ads, interestingly enough. A bit calmer than last week's visuals, but probably annoying since no games can be played.
There is one other notable change about camp: the counselors are nowhere to be found. There is plenty of food and some note left on how to run things, but otherwise the campers have been left to their own devices apparently.
On the main door to the lodge is a note that says "We will be back as soon as possible." written in Red's handwriting. What could this mean?

In the quiet misty morning
When the moon has gone to bed,
When the sparrows stop their singing
And the sky is clear and red,
When the summer's ceased its gleaming
When the corn is past its prime,
When adventure's lost its meaning -
I'll be homeward bound in time
Bind me not to the pasture
Chain me not to the plow
Set me free to find my calling
And I'll return to you somehow
If you find it's me you're missing
If you're hoping I'll return,
To your thoughts I'll soon be listening,
And in the road I'll stop and turn
Then the wind will set me racing
As my journey nears its end
And the path I'll be retracing
When I'm homeward bound again
Bind me not to the pasture
Chain me not to the plow
Set me free to find my calling
And I'll return to you somehow
In the quiet misty morning
When the moon has gone to bed,
When the sparrows stop their singing,
And the sky is clear and red,
When the summer's ceased its gleaming,
When the corn is past its prime,
When adventure's lost its meaning,
I'll be homeward bound in time.

cw body horror of the sword variety
The spikes coming out of him have grown in size and number, to the point where it's easy to tell what they actually are - tips of sword blades, made from petoskey instead of steel. They're not just growing out of his wounds anymore, either. There are two curved rows along his abdomen like his ribs are poking out through the skin, and numerous other spots where apparently his bones are turning into blades and coming out through the skin.
Of course, the zombie remains blissfully unaware of all this, even though his shirt is kind of in shreds. Huh.]

Later, Lance can be found in the bathroom going through his usual skin care routine. He stands over the sink, diligently washing his face mask off, but... it looks like it's not just the face mask coming off with the water. Patches of skin are peeling off like strips of old wallpaper, leaving visible spots of petoskey stone on his face and neck.]

Thankfully they're too much stone to be able to bleed so it's not that messy when bits of skin start coming off more than the stone hairs. Little wet flakes that are more slime than skin because of the water and lather, a couple larger pieces full of holes from the stone hairs, floating in frothy water like swiss cheese.
At least he'll wipe the sink out when he's done?]

Bad news... The stones have completely covered his face. It looks like he's wearing some kind of rock mask. They're beginning to spread to his neck and hair as well.

Monday Notes
On the doors to cabin 4, there is a note that says "Those who have not been pranked or punished are welcome to use this cabin this week." The zombies will not enter cabin 4 this week but the living are free to use it for anything they like.
Red and Archer's doors are locked.
Monday- drugs locked to Nine but open otherwise
Later he can be found in the kitchen, cooking. Archer isn't here to take over the place for once, so Ren decides to feed the crew- smells like curry in fact. And coffee is burbling away too- freshly ground, not instant.
That night you might find him sneaking around- no counselors means no curfew, after all. He fiddles with the counselors' doors, seeing if he can unlock them, eyes the One Door, and even the Time Out Shed. Explore with him? Stop him? Who knows what they might find...]

delicious curry life
He's gotten used to it by now, but having food available at any hour, whenever, wherever -- that's going to be something he's going to miss despite all the death. Even last week... His stomach is a lot more aggressive about asserting itself now, as though making up for it, so that's probably what greets Ren immediately the moment Lenka peeks into the kitchen.
... He clears his throat and keeps his expression neutral. No one heard that.]
Ah, I haven't seen you cook in a little while. [when was the last time, was it the grill way back when?] I guess Archer isn't here, so...
[The kitchen is free for invasion, apparently. He comes in a little further, tentative and curious.]

Snacks are also a possibility, and at one point he's considering a jar of peanut butter, spoon in hand. Drew seems to be encouraging him.
After the lights go out, Chuuta's going to sleep. Drew isn't, so there's a weird glow coming from Chuuta's corner of the pillow nest from Drew's blue eyes and the red gems on his forehead and throat. He makes a good nightlight.]

[He actually does begin crashing in cabin 4, thanks to all the pillows and blankets Nine brought. Unfortunately it's not always the most restful in spite of everything, but they all know how that goes.
Tonight, there's a very soft gasp in the dead of night, and if someone cares to locate him in what moonlight manages to get past the window, they'll see him staring upwards, eyes wide. Eventually, slowly, he raises a hand as though reaching out and grasping something thin between his fingers.
He sees the blood dripping down his arm. But he can't feel it, and that in and of itself is something of a relief.]
I'm never going to see you again after this.
[It's a quiet, quiet whisper; it's not as though he wants to wake the others, after all. Because by giving up on his wish he's giving up on the life of the person before him, and for the first time since he began his Journey, he's just starting to think that...
Maybe, maybe this is for the best.]
[Tuesday]
[Well, now that they're working towards the end, it's probably about time to give some of his other powers a spin. He spent yesterday walking around without his staff, but today he brings it with him once again, chanting:]
To those who oppose me grant the eternal sleep of death, and in ice unmelting bind them. Sacuroz, helgis, metos, helgitos! Come, Balbylone, Daughter of Darkness!
[An ominous incantation for sure, and a magic circle appears on the ground at his call, the shadowy form of what appears to be a bat-winged pixie appearing before him.]
...I keep summoning you for trifling things, these days. [And he holds out a hand for her to perch on much like a bird, her legs and arms crossed. There's very few features to note, given she is mostly formed of shadow, but her eyes in particular are a glowing gold split with cat-like irises.
And, to whoever else is here with him:]
I don't suppose you'd be willing to be a test subject? I promise you, despite the incantation, she won't kill.
[...........How much do you trust this shitchild.]
Tuesday
Nine is just going to move in close to peek at the shoulder friend. Daughter of Darkness or whatever she is. ]
Still not over the whole summoning without dying, yo.
[ And then he'll look over at Mitsuru and wave his hand at the promise part. It's not needed. ]
I trust you, hey. Just tell me what you want me to do.

Thursday Meeting!
They've gathered in some approximation of a circle out on the grass, there's a ball present because Nine learned fetch in camp, and they're being very sneaky indeed by... attempting ball sports while attempting to keep their voices down while attempting to still coherently have a meeting.
Or at least Lenka is trying. Possibly other people are trying too. He scratches his head and stares down at the ball for a moment in consternation, as though asking himself if this will really work......]
... It's almost the weekend. I thought we could go over the planning we did last week. And any new information we might have gotten from the dead or from Red and Archer since then.
Last week, the dead told us that the organization can give them new bodies. We know that Sol is scattered across this world, and Kurotsuchi is involved in the experimentation. We know that Red was part of the hunters, and that their memories were redacted, somehow. We learned what the final protocol really is.
[He pauses, rolling the ball from hand to hand, thoughtful.]
Kirijo proposed that we negotiate with the organization to bring back those of us who died, and that we could have something they want. It might have something to do with the app with the eyeball. Red proposed that we show Archer the dead are still here. The dead proposed that Sol wants to be a normal human child. Have we learned more about Marona, or the hunters, or anything else?
no subject
Apparently all of us were told why we're here, and some of us actually volunteered for it. But whether we came of our own wills or were dragged, they used that memory erasure drug on us.
As for the final protocol... there were three reasons it would be activated: one, within 24 hours of Red's death. Two, if we went under ten people before the start of week seven. And finally...
If anyone is still alive by the stroke of midnight on Sunday of week 8.
[Ominous.]
