Week 8

WEEK 8

The weekend passes in a blue, and suddenly it is Monday again. Monday of week 8, the final week of camp. The last week to try and change your fate.

It's sunny and pleasant, with daytime temperatures lingering around 70 degrees Fahrenheit and dropping off into the 50s in the evening. It's pretty much the perfect weather for Michigan, and it's only a shame that it took this long to get to it.

The WiiU continues to be broken, though the creepy Mii is gone now. All of the Miis are, actually. All that can be seen is a variety of Pure Michigan ads, interestingly enough. A bit calmer than last week's visuals, but probably annoying since no games can be played.

There is one other notable change about camp: the counselors are nowhere to be found. There is plenty of food and some note left on how to run things, but otherwise the campers have been left to their own devices apparently.

On the main door to the lodge is a note that says "We will be back as soon as possible." written in Red's handwriting. What could this mean?

There must be a reason why her name was given to us.

[He absorbs the information thoughtfully, after gently tossing her the ball. Play ball with them in a dubious attempt at undercover info meetings, Mitsuru (slightly less ominous).]

I don't know if she has anything to do with the organization's technology, but if knowing about her could give us any insight into what they're doing...

[It's unlikely the tech is completely based on Marona, if she's a camper and if she (probably) isn't of this world. But there should be some connection there. Information is power in a place like this -- it's also responsibility, the unwanted choice between deaths, and all manner of things, but anything they can get their hands on they'll have to use. Three days left.]

[wait why are you throwing a ball at her when she's sitting down!! on instinct, she reaches out to catch it, although she fumbles a bit awkwardly as she does so]

I-- [a frazzled huff, and she manages to get the ball under control, cradled between her palms] -- I know there's a reason we were told to ask about her. But I cannot fathom what it is at this point.

Perhaps. . . that's something we should look into, when we negotiate with the organization.

[Look, nobody explained the actual logistics of this beyond 'let's sit around and pretend like we're playing ball', so he's sort of making it up as he goes along. At least he's not asking her to toss it back. Mitsuru will get a mildly sheepish look, but it's brief, buried under concentration on the topic at hand.]

I'd like it better if we had more information before we negotiated with them...

[But of course, there are a lot of things that they'd need, ideally, before they negotiated with something like the Dark Road Organization. It feels almost like they're about to head into a trial again, but one determined by all their time here at camp, the things they've been able to understand about the world and about Sol and about themselves.

They've been doing that all along, scrambling for what they can find and being tossed into the hall of judgment whether they're ready or not. So...]

But I guess we know how to make use of what we have. I don't know how much the organization expects us to know, either.

[How much knowledge is too much knowledge, and how much is dangerous for them? Red has always talked around certain topics. So has Archer. He's not sure how much of that to heed, and how much it will affect what they need to do next.]
