WEEK 2 - TRIAL
It takes a full day after finding the body, but on Saturday, the counselors call you all to the campfire, the bonfire already roaring away as everyone finds their seats. Stan and Red are seated there, with Stan holding a box saying 'VOTES' written on it.
It looks like you're here to find the killer.
And just like before, you know you'll be forced to vote before the night's over...
And condemn someone to a grisly fate.
CAMPERS REMAINING: 24

I understand nobody wishes to be here. To do this. I, for one, am hardly interested in playing along with this charade. But a young camper is dead now, and I do believe she at least deserves our attention and our best efforts.
[a brief pause, before she continues]
The markings in the mess hall indicate to me that two people were involved in this crime. One person of larger stature, and one person of smaller stature. You can compare Utsugi to me for a size comparison.
One pair of footprints was similar in size to my own, and one pair was similar in size to Utsugi.

ALIBIS?
Okay, I've got a really good question: where the fuck was everyone that night? Because Nine and I walked all over the goddamn camp and we didn't see anyone or hear anything!

Thanks for looking after him.
Ichigo and I were in Cabin 4, we were going over my notes and... we both fell asleep. That's why I didn't come back to 3 that night.

Her body was found hanging on the flag pole in a flag, her face was beaten in pretty badly and there were bruises on her wrist from what seems like someone else with large hands was grabbing hold of her and a burn from the gunshot since there was still gunpower residue remaining.
It took me a bit of time to piece together what happened but from what I could tell with my medical expertise, the bruises and the gunpowder burn happened before she died. I wasn't able to find any other wounds or marks but I was also to determine that that someone did smash Chloe's face before beating her skull in with the pan.

hashing out a timeline
Whoever killed Chloe didn't have very much time to do IT.
Chloe, as a lemon-- [ can you hear his disgust, guys ] --was last seen in the kitchen shortly before CURFEW. Barely half an hour BEFORE. I know, because I myself made it back to my own cabin when curfew HIT.
Clarke-san said that the time of death was shortly after CURFEW. Ashikawa and I may well have been the last to see her alive and WELL.
[ citation needed. ]
Someone came into the kitchen after we LEFT.

CAT HERDING
Hey, assholes!
[Okay... he has their attention... now what... fuck... he didn't think this through.
Okay. It's okay. What would Bill do.
He clears his throat, squares his shoulders and looks at everyone]
Insteada just standing around accusing people, why don't we talk about what we know?
The footprints match Ichigo, Kon, Talcott, Nine, Ren, Shirou, and Kanji, right? It probably was one'a them. We know when she was killed, and where. So we just gotta figure out who wasn't where they said they were around curfew and if it was someone who coulda deflected bullets, right?
Listen, I don't like this any more than any'a you guys, but I'd rather be sure than risk a random person being... being... being put in time out... [He pales. HE DOESN'T WANNA SAY IT, OKAY?!]

SO THIS IS HAPPENING
Lenka. Come here.
[It's punishment time.]
oh boy
It was more that he'd... been braced, had had it hissing in the back of his mind like a snake in the grass but everything about Chloe's death, and then the trial, and everything had shoved it almost all the way out again. Lenka tenses, a full-body motion when Red calls his name, and there's a moment when he can't move because the chill of foreboding is so strong.
But he moves.
He walks to her, hands closed into fists at his sides to prevent himself from... reaching for anything, doing anything. He's afraid.]

EXECUTION: KITTEN PLAYTIME (CW: suicide, gore)
[Lenka takes his time counting up the votes, carefully reading over each one. He never wavers, though his hands do start to shake slightly as he reaches the end.
When the papers are all counted, Lenka takes a moment to close his eyes and just breathe. Then, he opens them and speaks.]
The majority vote is for Talcott. ...I’m sorry.
[He sets the container aside and he approaches Talcott. The two of them step down towards the water, a bit of a ways away from the main group by the fire. There, the two have a short conversation. What they say is inaudible, but the intention is probably clear: they’re discussing how Talcott should die.
Suddenly, Talcott pulls a knife out and brings it up to his own neck. Lenka’s eyes go wide and he jumps forward, trying to grab for the knife.Talcott does manage to get a good cut into his neck, but it’s not enough to finish himself off, and the two struggle over the knife for a few seconds.
Then two figures come bounding out of the lake. They look just like the lake cat that a few of the campers have seen already, but they’re much smaller, about the size of a sea lion. They’re rushing right for Talcott and Lenka.
Both boys stop with their struggle and look at the two lake cats.
Suddenly Red is there, popping into existence just behind Lenka. She grabs him around the middle and disappears as quickly as she arrived, ultimately depositing Lenka up by the campfire.
Talcott is left alone with the two creatures. They look playful, but their huge size and Red’s reaction are a big worry, and Talcott’s face screws up in fear. He holds the knife up to himself again, but before he can finish what he started one of the lake cats tackles him and knocks him to the ground.
The two lake cats make happy noises - and distinctly say ‘odaminwaadan!!’ in tiny, rumbling voices’, and they start nosing a screaming Talcott towards the lake. It’s not unlike how a cat might play with a mouse it’s just caught. After several long, terrifying seconds, Talcott and the two lake cats disappear into the water.
The show isn’t over, though.
Talcott’s body gets flung out of the water a few times as the lake cats pass it back and forth, batting it around like it’s a ball. At first Talcott is screaming and struggling, clearly trying to get away. But with each subsequent toss, his body is more damaged, and his struggling is weaker. Finally he goes below the water and doesn’t re-emerge for a while, nearly a minute or so.
Then the lake kittens throw his battered and bloodied body up onto the shore. If not for his clothes he might be unrecognizable, chunks of his body taken out and face slashed.]
Function complete.
[That is Red speaking, rather than Lenka. She looks visibly shaken by what just happened, a change from last week, but she’s trying to keep her voice calm at the very least.]
The trial is over. Return to your cabins now and get some rest.
