WEEK 3

Another Sunday, another day to rest and recover after trial. The weather is now uncomfortably hot and humid after all the rain - perfect swimming weather, if what happened during the execution didn't put you off from swimming for a good long while.

As before, The RV's have changed, but it might not be the best idea to go and bother them after last week's...well, mistake. Maybe give it a week to rest. Additionally, if anyone tries to play the Wii, they will find that Chloe, Talcott, and Sayama's Miis have disappeared - as well that the machine itself is spitting out some strange music at the home screen and the Mii channel. The games seem unaffected by the musical change, at least - and there's now a copy of Mario Party 9 ready to be played alongside Wii Sports. Try not to murder each other or fling the wiimotes into the tv, alright?

The rest of the camp is the same as always, though now fishing equipment is always left out near the lake and beach, and there's a taped on sign on the slope railing declaring 'DO NOT LEAN ON.' Looks like they finally noticed the hazard that thing could potentially be. The kitchen has been fully scrubbed, the faint scent of lemon wafting in the air. Hm.

Two weeks have gone by, and with it, 6 of your fellow campers are gone. There are only six weeks left - six long weeks, and your chances of making it out dwindle all the time.

Knowing that, what will you do?

That slimy thing? [ She must have surely SEEN it in passing, or heard Usagi going on about it, but didn't get too close for obvious reasons. But, like, what the hell. ]

...wait, they came into camp for the octopus?? [ THIS ONLY RAISES FURTHER QUESTIONS ]

[It would be hard to miss an entire octopus in a camp this small.]

I guess he was pretty slimy. [he didn't mind, but then again Lenka is not a poster child for understanding the grossness of everyday things and hasn't been since the TDM, Floe, I don't know what you expected] We were using him as a distraction... it ended up bigger than we expected. Maybe the cats don't usually get prey like that.

[He sure hasn't seen any other octopi around. But yeah, they have a lot of questions, only some of which are related to the cats' diet at this point.]

[ Just. Puts her face in her hands for a moment. On the one hand, WHAT THE HELL. On the other hand, sure, this might as well be happening. ]

So they got hungry and came here to eat...Frank...and then they left? That's all they wanted?

[Yeah honestly, her reaction is a Mood™, Lenka kind of wanted to do that too after everything and would have if he didn't need to wash fish and meat juices and likely kitten drool off his hands and everything else first...]

They... were more hungry than that. We had to feed them more. And I guess... play with them. To get them to let Eddie and Boa go.

What?! That's awful! It was bad enough just knowing they're out there. Now we have to worry about them coming to attack us whenever they get hungry on top of everything else?!

I don't know.

[He's worried, and kind of low-key frazzled and doesn't know what to think and hasn't let himself think too hard about any of it since he's been in emergency response mode for most of the day and hasn't really come down from it yet. It's helpful for getting shit done. Not so helpful for making sense of things.]

... They eat curry, too. Usagi's. We talked to them and I... [yeah, he's telling this all backwards and upside down but whatever] I thought that if maybe we feed them enough, it would stop that from happening again.

You talked to them?

[ A moment's pause for horrible flashbacks of getting yelled off the lake by Big Blue. Not to mention the...execution. ]

What did they say? "Feed us or we'll kill you all"?

They wanted to play.

[It's said somewhat flatly, but it's not really news, in the grand scheme of things -- especially when Richie had done the same translation for their siblings, last weekend. But we're distinctly not talking about the execution right now.]

I think they thought the kids were toys.

[They had stopped attacking once more conventionally fed, in what he assumes is normal baby animal behavior even when the baby animal is the size of a canoe. The biggest worry is that they're unpredictable and don't seem to understand how humans work.]
