INVESTIGATION

As you wake up, nothing seems different - beyond that you don't seem quite as worried about your secrets being exposed anymore. And that, just like all the times before, means only one thing -

- that one of your fellow campers have committed murder.

Someone is dead. It's up to you to find out who...and to gather evidence for it.

[ Right after finding the body, Nine is heading out of the lodge and then turning around to punch the side of it. He'll hit it repeatedly a few times, before just sinking forward to rest his forehead against it. ]

What the hell...

[ What do you do when your family is falling apart? What do you even say... ]

[he's not sure what you do, but he's sure as hell not talking to Nine right now because DUDE you were such a jerk in the kitchen]

[Lenka's actually around the lodge right now, since they're... probably usually meeting up somewhere around here, near the center of camp after investigations, so he blinks when he sees Nine all propped up against the building, his posture -- that's not a promising sort of pose. He hesitates only briefly; they'd just talked about Cabin 3, earlier this week.

Cabin 3 is really not okay right now. He wasn't there for the kitchen shenanigans but he sure did see the opening of hostilities in the morning, and now Chuuta's vanished and none of the kids are acting quite like themselves, either.

It's a bad combination. He comes over, stopping next to Nine, leaving him a little space in case he's out of it.]

Nine... I heard. About Usagi.

[ Nothing to see here, just bruised knuckles and tears. He's been doing so well ignoring and moving forward but now... now he can't.

Swallowing it all back as soon as he hears Lenka, and just scrubbing his face with his hand ]

Yeah... it's...

[ He can't even manage to say much to it. ]

It's a mess.

[He sees him scrubbing at his face, but doesn't remark on it; just leans against the wall next to him, looking out on what they can see of the camp from here instead. Which hopefully doesn't include a current murder scene, but you never know. It's the day of people he didn't expect to see quite this down being quite this down.

It makes sense, when you think about it. They've never been pushed as hard as they have been this week. And there have been plenty of things building up. He still doesn't know enough about Nine and who he is -- but he's tough. He can tell that much. Someone who knows fighting well. Somehow, none of them are quite equipped to deal with this either.]

It is. I'm sorry. [it's funny, but Nine might be one of the people he's apologized to the most in this entire camp; it's sincere for all that, as many things packed into it as usual] If it's too much, we're all still here.

[ There's always an apology from Lenka. Nine isn't sure what to make of them...

It takes longer to react. Waving his hand as he shakes his head. ]

S'not your fault yo You were just worried about him.

[ Which is good. After today, more people on Chuutas side to remind him that they care, the more he'll feel better about himself. Nine isn't sure what to make of the evidence. He just knows it screams way too fucking easy. ]

Tomorrow is going to be shit.

[He's not sure exactly how Nine has interpreted his apology, but while it has something to do with Chuuta, certainly -- it's not entirely to do with Chuuta, or even Usagi. Because the issues in Cabin 3 extend so far beyond that by now, and even if he didn't have his hands full keeping his own cabin together Lenka... doesn't know how much he could help with that.

He can only offer what support he can, for now.]

Yes. It's going to be harder than the other trials. [it's said on a small sigh, but there's a steel in his voice behind the tiredness of investigation, because yeah -- he's worried about Chuuta and there's no way he's going to let tomorrow go the way today tried to go] Because of this week. Everything. But I know we can find the truth, Nine.

[It's not ideal. Ideally they wouldn't be here at all, and no one would have died. And neither Chuuta nor any of them would be in this position. But if wishes were horses, right?]

[ What's a horse? Can you eat it?

Nine is not interpreting any of this the way Lenka intends, but he's not going to think any differently. ]

Yeah, but that's what I'm afraid of. Whatever happens, Chuuta is hurt.

[ Huffing out a frustrated breath and then he just wipes off his snot and tears before trying to actually face him. ]

I was an asshole to Richie. Don't know what the hell I'm going to do about that...
