INVESTIGATION

As you wake up, nothing seems different - beyond that you don't seem quite as worried about your secrets being exposed anymore. And that, just like all the times before, means only one thing -

- that one of your fellow campers have committed murder.

Someone is dead. It's up to you to find out who...and to gather evidence for it.

[Eddie nods, leaning his face into Richie's hand a little]

Yeah. Yeah, I do.

[he gives a little, breathless laugh]

Good, because now you're really stuck with me, asshole. And if Red tries to tell either one of us to leave each other alone next week she can blow me.

[Eddie swats him]

Hey! That'd be cheating, dickhead.

[But he's smiling and he pulls Richie in for another hug]

And you're stuck with me, too.

[he laughs like hell at that, and that hug just isn't really enough, this time. he leans in to kiss Eddie on the cheek]

Alright. ... What if I tell her to kiss my ass, is that cheating?

[He laughs]

No, that's safe.

[He turns his face to give Richie a proper smooch. It feels wrong to be doing this after such a hellish day... but they need something positive to break up the bullshit!]

[it's the first time Eddie's actually kissed HIM, and it's like everything around them lights up, for him. this is happening. this, an actual GOOD THING in the middle of severed friend heads and murder suspect friends and hallucinations and big brothers being assholes. when Eddie draws away, he rests his head on his shoulder and gets as close as he can, snuggling up against him]

It's warm enough. I want to just stay out here, with you.

[he looks up at the stars. at ... at the moon. it's a lot prettier than a cabin full of murder suspects and a bed that won't have a Usagi in it and a stained pink trunk.]

[Eddie nods, enjoying the closeness of the moment. It's more comforting than anything else in this shit hole. Sitting there with Richie he can pretend like nothing is wrong, nothing hurts, there was no murder or betrayal or hurt. He didn't just have to carry the severed head of one of his friends or act like he was braver than he really was. He was content to let this moment last as long as possible, and pretend that they weren't going to have to hold another bullshit trial full of comparing hand sizes and pointing fingers...

And the fact that someone might accuse HIM of doing this...

No. He refused to let any of that sully this beautiful moment. He closes his eyes and leans into Richie.]

Yeah... yeah I'd like that.

Then that's totally what we're gonna do.

[he closes his eyes]

We should probably go get a couple blankets. And our pillows.

[itsagazebo]

[Eddie just nods... though he makes no attempt to move.]

[look at them gooooo. ... of course, he hears the frogs start to pipe up over the sound of Usagi's music box, and thinks of something:]

And your earplugs.

[Eddie just GROANS.]

Seriously... if it hadn't been actually useful I'd be so fucking sick of this stupid power.

[Richie makes a face over Eddie's shoulder in the general direction of, well, frogs]

Did the raccoon at least tell you anything else about Red, or the camp, or anything?

[He shakes his head a little]

No. We actually just hung out. Like... it just wanted to play. It was kinda cool.

Man. Few weeks ago you would've been freakin' out about getting rabies.

[he grins]

[a yawn sneaks through without his permission, and he actually looks vaguely annoyed about it]

I know right? What the fuck happened? Christ, if the guys in Derry could see me, now.

[He gives a tired little chuckle. That yawn gets him, though, and he yawns right back. Fuck.]

They will. When we get outta here.

[he nudges Eddie a little, then snuggles up closer - somehow, it's possible. his eyes are heavy, and before he even realizes it, they've drifted closed. Eddie's shoulder is surprisingly comfortable for being so scrawny, and he's warm, and safe, and his. sleep settles on him like a ladybug, rare, sudden, lucky and perfect.]
