It takes a full day after finding the body, but on Saturday, the counselors call you all to the campfire, the bonfire already roaring away as everyone finds their seats. Stan and Red are seated there, with Stan holding a box saying 'VOTES' written on it.

It looks like you're here to find the killer.

And just like before, you know you'll be forced to vote before the night's over...

And condemn someone to a grisly fate.

[He pauses; but doesn't look completely surprised, no. Certain things about the way Shirou acts make sense in light of that (and Archer, there's always Archer).]

... There's a difference between you choosing to kill people, and killing people we choose.

[It might be a weird thing to be stubborn about, but he's going to be stubborn about it.]

It's not a very big difference.

[He might have cared about it more before yesterday, but now he's just tired of this whole mess.]

Anyway, don't worry. I probably won't be offering in other weeks anyway.

Everything counts here. Don't go closer to death than you have to.

[Don't be like Ren, Shirou. And honestly it's not like he doesn't understand the feeling of being beyond tired of everything; he just can't -- do that. Offer something like that. And...]

It's not like my life has any value here anyway.

[Not when he can't save anyone; especially not with Usagi gone. So who cares how close to death he goes?]

So... I'm just going to keep doing whatever I can to make this stop.

The ten-person minimum, Shirou. All of our lives have value.

[Of course he thinks that their lives have inherent value; but he knows about needing an excuse to be alive. You have to justify the reason you're here and other people aren't, why you can't put yourself in their place despite everything. So he'll give him that, or at least try.]

We can keep going because we're in this together.

[The closer to death you go, the harder you have to cling to life. The harder it is to help those around you live as they want to.]

We're not together, though. Even when we're not killing each other, none of us can seem to trust each other. And now... someone killed Usagi.

[Of all people, why her? She never hurt anyone and tried to be friends with everyone around her. He'd thought that they could make it as long as Usagi was there, and now she's not.]

So it's not like we're all allies or anything like that.
