WEEK 6

Last week had been pretty brutal, leaving scars on everyone in camp. A murder driven by paranoia-induced visions, committed by and against two of the youngest members of camp, has left everyone reeling. If this is the way murders will go, what's to happen next?

The humidity is dropping off some, but the heat is staying strong. The campers will need to find new ways to beat the heat. A delivery is due this week though, so maybe the camp's deliveryman will have some ice cream?

The WiiU and current games are all here, but there are no new games. Sorry everyone, you're stuck with what you have. Usagi and Boa are now gone from the Mii menu, but that strange faceless Mii is still there, staring as always. His grin seems to have grown though, and the Mii menu music has changed as well. The other Miis seem scared of the grinny Mii, and they are staying far away from him. Now the only selectable Mii is grin-face. How weird.

The counselors have said they need 'more time' to end this, but just how much time do they need? Can the campers really stall long enough for the counselors to finish their plan? And how does that knowledge sit with them, knowing that each delayed week means less campers will make it in the end?

[because Boa deserves better than a world where people would train him to think that murder is an acceptable way to survive, to think that being strong is the only thing that matters. he deserves FRIENDS]

Hey, I wasn't the one who was mad in the first place. Our post-summer plans are still standing.

[ Boa laughs a little. If there is any awareness for the gravity of the situation inside him, he sure doesn't show it. ]

When did you make friends with Mitsuru?

[oh, that stings. it stings, like lemon in a paper cut. but ... he takes a deep breath and pushes down the pain, delicately papering it over with the thought that this is temporary. that they'll find a way. they have to. they HAVE TO. this is still his friend. they are ALL still friends. he might not trust all of them, but ... but ... does trust matter so much as teamwork, right now? did he completely trust Ben when he arrived? or Bev? or even Bill?]

[ Boa looks impressed. ]

Time-out was pretty boring, no wonder we're all avoiding it. Tell me what I missed.

You'd be surprised the kind of things a ... prank can get people talking about.

[this is just insulting. to the kind of friendship they had, not to mention to Boa himself, and Usagi. he scowls.]

[ Here's a huff that comes dangerously close to a pout. ]

Fine, fine... I guess that's what I deserve for getting timed out to start with.

... I wouldn't go so far as to say you deserved it.

[yes. yes, actually, you know what, screw it, he doesn't care, this is Boa. he's getting hugged]

We're still gonna make it. We are. I ... we'll figure it out.

[ Boa still seems mildly puzzled by the way this conversation is going, but not puzzled enough to reject hugs or not return them. Hug it is! ]

I don't really get what you'll make, but if you put your mind to it there's no reason you couldn't.

[he allows himself the briefest moment, while he's hugging Boa and his face can't be seen, to cry, then pulls himself together and steps back]

I ... it's gonna be a good surprise. You trust me, right?

[ Boa nods without any hesitation. ]

Definitely. I know I've been kind of difficult about that in the past, but the last month taught me a lot. It's been really good to come to camp.

[trashmouthtozier]

I know. You ... you're a cool dude, Boa. That's why this is gonna be the best surprise. Because you deserve it.

[finalguard]

[ He laughs. ]

All this niceness is starting to sound suspicious, you know.

[trashmouthtozier]

I never said ALL of the surprise was gonna be good. I've gotta throw something else in there to keep you on your toes.

[maybe he'll put whoopie cushions on all the chapel pews on Sunday night or something]

That sounds more like you. Don't break any camp rules though!

Not even any little ones, huh?

None of them! Don't get yourself into trouble before camp is over.

[ STERN LOOK. ]

[he suddenly realizes, like a bolt from the blue, is that what Boa is basically saying is: Richie, don't get in trouble. Because then they put you in the shack.

Right. ... Sorry. I ... I shouldn't joke about that. You're right.

[ The smile returns to Boa's face instantly. ]

That's for the best. I bet you can get very creative within the rules, too.

Ha - you know it.

[the smile helps. it helps so much. even with all those horrible rock patches and spots, and that eye ... the smile is his best reminder that it's still Boa, in there, somewhere]
