Week 6

WEEK 6

Last week had been pretty brutal, leaving scars on everyone in camp. A murder driven by paranoia-induced visions, committed by and against two of the youngest members of camp, has left everyone reeling. If this is the way murders will go, what's to happen next?

The humidity is dropping off some, but the heat is staying strong. The campers will need to find new ways to beat the heat. A delivery is due this week though, so maybe the camp's deliveryman will have some ice cream?

The WiiU and current games are all here, but there are no new games. Sorry everyone, you're stuck with what you have. Usagi and Boa are now gone from the Mii menu, but that strange faceless Mii is still there, staring as always. His grin seems to have grown though, and the Mii menu music has changed as well. The other Miis seem scared of the grinny Mii, and they are staying far away from him. Now the only selectable Mii is grin-face. How weird.

The counselors have said they need 'more time' to end this, but just how much time do they need? Can the campers really stall long enough for the counselors to finish their plan? And how does that knowledge sit with them, knowing that each delayed week means less campers will make it in the end?

I know more about it than any of you here.

[Blunt but...honestly? Not true, considering he didn't know who Sol was.

And there's a pause, due to that question - his eyes staring off into the distance for a moment as he thinks about how to word this.]

...potentially. But I'm here to oversee the ending stages of the ritual.

[No, definitely not entirely true; but that doesn't mean he doesn't have extra info that neither they nor Red nor the dead might have access to. They're working on a giant puzzle with limited time and shrinking resources and a shrinking pool of people.

And while Lenka has no doubts that losing Stan means they're back to square one in at least one or several ways -- he's going to pursue what's available to them. If Archer might be useful, he'll have to see what he has, despite Archer being himself.]

The ending stages. So things are going to change from now on. [everything sounds ominous today, doesn't it] ... We're still looking for alternatives.
ihatepastme: (alright I'm gonna need you to not)

[personal profile] ihatepastme 2018-07-09 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
There are no alternatives.

[He says that automatically - but then seems to remember something, and sighs.]

...Maybe one or two. But this won't end well for any of you.
soylentprotag: (007)

[personal profile] soylentprotag 2018-07-09 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
... That's interesting. We've been told there are survivors. What happens to them?

[He'd never really accepted the narrative that they should just hold on, survive, and be content to leave camp with what's left of them. If they got to leave at all. Notably because he's always been prepared not to make it all the way there -- sacrifice is the name of the game, after all.

You can't change the rules without paying a price, or two, or five, or seven or eight or even more. At some point, you lose track of loss itself, because there isn't enough left of yourself except to find things again.]
ihatepastme: (alright I'm gonna need you to not)

[personal profile] ihatepastme 2018-07-09 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
That's classified information.

[Told there's survivors, eh...

...Well, there are a few cases where that might be true. But he suspects he'll have to eventually talk to Red, when she's willing to speak to him again.]

But something 'not ending well' doesn't mean death.
soylentprotag: (048)

[personal profile] soylentprotag 2018-07-09 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I know that. What's happening here... some of it might be worse than death.

[He closes his eyes for a moment to banish the images of Saturday, the coral dead and Ren and everything afterwards.

Three weeks ago, when the god banished them into the dark.

He needs to talk to Red, soon, himself. Figure out where they all stand now that Archer is here, what they can do and what they can't, now.]

--You're a Heroic Spirit, aren't you? Why are you here, Archer?
ihatepastme: (hey bby lemme whispa in yo ear)

[personal profile] ihatepastme 2018-07-10 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
...Heh.

[He actually chuckles, shaking his head.]

I'm a Heroic Spirit, but I'm also a Counter Guardian. A spirit contracted to humanity's collective will to survive, summoned to take care of any threats that may potentially end the human race.

[personal profile] soylentprotag 2018-07-10 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
[He absorbs that with a frowning, thoughtful expression.

It’s something Shirou hadn’t seemed to know, not exactly, but it lines up with other things Red and his fellow campers have told him or dug up. And yet... an organization that includes people like Kurotsuchi, that can make gods afraid, that does this to children under the guise of saving the world? He may not know much about Fate/bullshit, but he knows some real bullshit when he sees it. None of them have all the answers. Not even Archer.]

So saving the world. That’s what you believe you’re doing.

[personal profile] ihatepastme 2018-07-10 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
That's what I know I'm doing.

[His tone brooks absolutely no argument against it - Archer is 100% convinced he's saving the world.]
soylentprotag: (008)

[personal profile] soylentprotag 2018-07-10 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
[Too bad he’s amazingly tone-deaf sometimes, huh?]

Hmm. [considering, and definitely not agreeing] I don’t know how your magic works. What happens, once you’re done saving the world?
ihatepastme: (HRM)

[personal profile] ihatepastme 2018-07-10 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
Normally, I would be taken back to the Throne, to await being summoned again.

But I'm under contract, and my master supplies me with enough mana to keep me in this world. On top of that, this world is remarkably mana-dense.
soylentprotag: (052)

[personal profile] soylentprotag 2018-07-10 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Mana...?

[Do we want this poor post-apocalyptic hick child to learn all about the wonders of mana. Do we.

Regardless of the threat of sudden TMI, Lenka pushes forward, trying to sort through the morass of specialized terms and information being flung his way.]

There’s a lot happening in this world. Does that mean that... even if there’s no longer a threat, or a different threat... You’d still be here?
ihatepastme: (neutral as he can be)

[personal profile] ihatepastme 2018-07-10 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
[He's not going to make any effort in explaining what Mana is, tbh. It's not time for Teach me, Emiya-Sensei just yet.]

That's correct. Multiple things in this world threaten humanity at any given point in time.
soylentprotag: (062)

[personal profile] soylentprotag 2018-07-10 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Maybe he'll ask another time. Maybe he'll have to ask Red or Shirou. It's a toss-up.]

Multiple things... [by that, he probably means the anomalies, and while Lenka wants to dig further on this subject, he isn't sure enough yet of Archer's standing or temperament or even his exact purpose here in camp to delve properly into it; he tries anyway] Are all of them like this camp? The god and... the sacrifices.
ihatepastme: (HRM)

[personal profile] ihatepastme 2018-07-13 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
That's classified.

[I'm sorry, but that's basically his standard answer for everything.]
soylentprotag: (008)

[personal profile] soylentprotag 2018-07-13 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[Archer, stop sounding like a military grunt, you aren't even part of the military and Lenka has heard this excuse so many times at this point he just sort of. Shakes his head. This guy is more tightlipped than Red, and that's saying something.

It's too bad he's still not far enough along on his timeline to really call out suspicious chains of command the minute he sees them. Hm.]

The ending of the ritual. What can you tell me about that, or the alternatives you talked about?
